If this is official; the wording is bad and I would like to change it. There is no documentation on MSFT for this error or its likeness.

Was happening to a coworker on Windows 10 (local domain join, synced to M365, didn't change password or anything). I had her try going to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school. Once in there, I had her click on her M365 Work Account and click Disconnect. After closing Teams and Outlook, the next time she opened them up they prompted for her password again (as it had been repeatedly doing and failing) but this time was like a fresh login. So far, so good.
What's working for now is to make the machine Microsoft Entra hybrid join. This is with Non-persistent VDI's
