Left & right arrow keys don't move the cursor (in teams)

ft and right arrow keys have no effect in TEAMS BUT left-arrow + CTRL moves left one word, and right-arrow + CTRL moves right one word. So it is clear the arrow keys on the keyboard are functioning and sending signals to the computer. I also tried my laptop built in keyboard & the number pad. All have the same effect. What could be making the arrows by themselves not work?  (Up and Down arrows work normally.)

1.      Is it a laptop or desktop computer?
Laptop

2.      What is the make and model of the keyboard?
HP laptop keyboard & logitech external

3.      Was it working fine earlier?
Yes at most an hour before

4.      Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?
No. Maybe I inadvertently hit some hot key?

Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.29469 (64-bit). It was last updated on 10/26/2021
    Windows 10 v 20H2 build 19042.1288

had the same issue but now everything is fine. not sure what/when it has been fixed - maybe latest version.

the only specific thing i did: turned off then turned on the spellcheck in teams settings - general ( each time it requests to restart teams )

Been experiencing on Mac for 2 months as well. Was shocked to see close to 1,000 people on this thread alone have confirmed the issue. Though it seem Microsoft does really care about the user experience in Teams since there appears to be no acknowledgment that even a fix would be being worked on. Not much to see here. For me rebooting doesn't solve it. If I could still use the other communications tools I would, any other app would loose it's user base for the number of issues we seem to see on a consistent basis in this application. It's Microsoft.

I have the same problem. It works for a while and then stops working. The left and right keys work well in all other applications (Office 365 and other non Microsoft) but Teams.

This issue was reported in May 2011 (it is now November). SergioA2020 provided some guidance, but this needs to be fixed at the core (clearing caches and restarting applications may have been acceptable in Windows 3.0, but not in Windows 10).

Does anyone know of a permanent fix?

    Thanks in advance!

i believe it's connected again with "spell checking" (there was an issue before).
try to disable spellchecking: your icon-> manage account -> general -> spell check
