Microsoft Teams and Apple Airpod compatability

Hi - I use Microsoft Teams regularly (many times a day) to conduct business meetings.  I very recently bought a pair of Apple Airpods (Pro) as my old plug-in headphones stopped working after several years of service.  I run Teams on my Macbook Pro laptop.

Unfortunately, I can't get the Airpods working with Teams.  People in the meeting can hear me perfectly, but I can't hear them.  I'd appreciate it if somebody could offer some advice on how to get this configured.

    Hi everyone,

    Here's the workaround that worked for me. I think someone else posted it but I can't find it so I want to surface it.

    As long as you have a separate microphone (built-in or external one) then you can disable the "Handsfree Telephony" option within the device settings in order to get them to work as headphones normally. This will mean you are stuck near your separate microphone but it will allow your airpods to work as headphones across applications.

    1. Search for "Bluetooth and other device settings" to get to the "Bluetooth & other devices" window. Then click "Devices and printers" on the right side under "Related settings".
    2. Right-click on your airpods and click "Properties".
    3. Go to the "Services" tab and deselect "Handsfree Telephony".

    This workaround is reasonable for me. If I need to move around while on a call, I just call in using my iPhone and the airpods work perfectly.

    Hi jhuster,

    I understand your frustration. A cursory internet search shows that a large number of Teams users have purchased Apple AirPod Pro headphones which are a premium product, with a reasonable expectation that they would be able to use them for MS Teams calls.  

    It’s also not unreasonable to expect Microsoft to provide a timely fix or at the very least provide some information on why they are not able to.

    Hi Tiago,

    Try the following in your "Device Settings" within Teams.

    -  Speaker = Airpod Pro Stereo (not hands free)

    -  Microphone = Laptop microphone

    That's how I got mine working with Teams on my Microsoft Surface Pro.

    Me too...My company started using Teams instead Skype For Business, and from that moment my problems between my laptop and AirPods started too.

    Please fix it
