Teams is not opening on macbook

Hello,

I have a user that uses a MacBook pro with Catalina on it. Recently teams have not been wanting to work on this user's computer. There were times where it was opened, but then froze and bogged down the performance of the MacBook. Sometimes it wouldn't open when the user would log into their computer for the day. It would just bounce and never open or give out an error.

We have uninstalled and reinstalled the program to his computer but now it just bounces like it is opening but then never does open. I have looked at other solutions like deleting the ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.teams  and teams folder but again the same issue.

This MacBook is about 1 month old and has the current update and the rest of the Microsoft office programs work fine on there. The user is currently using the web version of the teams to get by for now.  Wondering if there is anything we can try to get this working again.
Thank you

Ok guys I am running Big Sur. What I had to do was as follow

  1. Open up you calendar and find a teams meeting.
  2. Once you click on the meeting like your going to join. It will pop up a message asking if you want to use the desktop app.
  3. It will then ask you to login and once you do that it works.

Just to let you know I do not work for Microsoft. I work for the local school system here in IT.

The problem I was having was that when I would open up teams and it would freeze/get stuck on the loading screen.

What I did was go to a calendar event that was created and clicked on the link snd once I did it opened up teams. You have to make sure that teams is not opened when you click on the link or it won’t do anything. And once I did it opened it up. The freezing thing is the face it’s trying to login to an account that has an error. You have to put your username snd password in again and it will work.

Thank you so much, after a few hours of fighting to resolve this problem, including re-imaging my machine, this was the answer.

I am in a similar situation except that I never even make it to a loading screen. The icon bounces in the Dock, I briefly see the Teams menu bar, and then it goes away, icon stops bouncing, and Teams never opens. No error message either. I have been able to uninstall and reinstall Teams, however, the issue reappears anywhere from a few days to a month later and I have to do it all over again. I'm running Big Sur on a Macbook Pro in a managed environment. Both Big Sur and Teams are the most recent version. All other Microsoft programs work, and Teams does work in a Chrome browser.
