After logging into the Teams app, it keeps on refreshing every second making it impossible to work until the app is reopened. This is a recurring problem and half the time it works smoothly, other times it doesn't.

I'm glad I'm not alone in this - add another Android (Pixel 4a) with issues connecting to Teams/Outlook on wifi.
Same problem happening to me and coworkers. Solution - reboot your phone. That is not a good solution. So what is the real fix? What happened in the past couple days?
I think there are different issues around this...
On my side, using KNOX Work profile (on Samsung S10e), the Hub is frequently losing connectivity to (work ?) network. Then Teams is trying to refresh indefinitely, no matter if it's Wi-Fi or 4G connection, swapping it does not help.
I stopped using Outlook (in my Work profile too), because I often had a blank screen when opening mails! It was certainly same issue...
A reboot of the phone resolves the issues on my side ! 😕 Like for any Microsoft product....
Same here with Teams constantly refreshing and Outlook occasionally failing to sync. Pixel 4a 5G with the April security updates, and made worse that I live in an area with terrible to no signal.
I'm having exactly the same issues and I have a Pixel 4a 5G. Teams keeps refreshing and Outlook is not syncing.
