Screen-sharing in Teams Mac, no ‘Windows’ or ‘Desktop’

Since yesterday, I am unable to share anything but PPTs in Team meetings with colleagues.

MS Teams 1.2.00.28258 on Mac 10.15 – since yesterday, I cannot share anything but PowerPoint files. The option to share ‘Desktop’ and ‘Windows’ have disappeared. I have checked the boxes in System Preferences > Security > Screen Recording.

hi all, you have to go deep into preferences and allow the app to access your computer. I know this isn't the best explanation, but I got it to work on my bosses computer.

This may be it:

Click the Apple menu.

Then, go to System Preferences > Click Security & Privacy > Privacy tab.

Click Screen Recording.

Click the lock icon to make changes.

If required, enter your admin password.

Finally, click the checkbox next to Microsoft Teams.

A notification window will ask you to restart it. Agree.

Then, try again and see if the issue persists.

If not this, something very similar.

You are close to that you have to do, problem is for many that the 'approval' is there but doesn't seem to have any effect. It is as if the program is not paying attention to the approvals.

Whatever you want to call it, it's an issue. I pulled my old Mac out that won't do any updates. It works perfectly. It's something Apple has/has not done with the new Catalina update. I'm not an expert, but if it works on my old Mac, it's a Mac issue.

This cannot be a bug issue, as Microsoft had a pop-up error message available for attempting this standard action - screen-sharing files. That's why only Power Point is supported has been shown,

It is maybe worth asking the Microsoft moderator for this issue why he/she is not aware of this functionality being intentionally removed by somebody in the Microsoft Teams 365 software group.

We also need to know when a patch/fix will be applied to return screen-sharing MacBook screens using Teams.

I’ve tested this twice this morning, one with an external, one with an internal. In those two instances, when I organise the meeting, I am able to see Window and Desktop. I will try next with meetings other people organise, and let you know…

Thank you for posting your issue on Microsoft Community. May I know whether this issue happen after updated to Mac 10.15 version?

Does this issue happen to any other users in your organization?

Which kind of environment do you have set up? Is it Office 365 Hybrid deployment or purely Office 365 Exchange Online? Please contact your Office 365 admin to confirm the environment.

You may try to troubleshoot this issue via using different Mac *(e.g. any non-problematic user’s Mac)*to determine whether it is specific client side issue.

Regarding “The option to share ‘Desktop’ and ‘Windows’ have disappeared”, please provide us with the detailed screenshot about the issue for further analysis.

• On the top ribbon, click on Insert Image, and then Choose File to browser the picture to upload.

• Click Upload.
