MS Teams for mac unable to share desktop or other screens - app and online versions

In MS Teams , I cannot share my Desktop / Application Windows. Teams alerts me that it needs Screen Recording permissions, although I have actually granted these before, and the regarding boxes in System Preferences are already ticked.

I have the newest version of Catalina and Teams. Nevertheless I don´t know exactly which applications are blocking the Teams screen sharing and why., I have followed all suggestions such as using the online version, same issue occurs, removing VPNs and rebooting and updating apps and the mac itself......I use Teams constantly for work and this is causing me a major hassle!

Thanks

    Hi Chris,

We have received several reports on the similar issue. Here are some workaround working for most of the users you may try them to check this issue.

    1. Screen sharing seems to work, if you do not run Teams in Fullscreen mode.
    2. Disable firewall/proxy setting (if you have set up an any)

    3.Quit Teams

Uncheck 'Screen Recording' for Microsoft Teams in 'Settings> Security & Privacy'

Restart Mac and wait for some times to re-enable/Check 'Screen Recording' for Microsoft Teams in 'Settings >Security & Privacy'

    Open Teams

Start a Meeting to see whether the Screen Sharing available.

    Your understanding is highly appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Shyamal

    Shyamai,

It worked! I'm doing tests and monitoring the fix. So far so good.

    Thanks

    Hi Marcel,

I have been facing the issue for months, but your solution worked. I am baffled.

Even though it is hard to accept this workaround for now, I am very grateful you shared this: I would have never thought of trying these specific steps.

    Thank you!

    Kind regards,

    Tijn

    I have the same problem.

Even though screen recording is checked in preferences I get prompted to enable screen sharing in preferences. It is checked, but it doesn´t work

I am testing BYOD for our business and use Macs, a Macbook Pro at work and iMac at home. None work.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

I've got the same problem, it seems to work if all windows are on the same 'desktop' when sharing (no full screen). I also added Teams to the Files & Folders, Full Disk Access & Screen Recording areas in settings & toggled all of these multiple times & it started working (no idea why in particular). Too flaky to rely on for any business use however, so effectively useless!! PLEASE SORT THIS ASAP!!

Also I would like to add that Teams is SO UNINTUITIVE to use and has AWFUL MULTI-MONITOR SUPPORT - I want to see team members on one screen and the presentation (whether mine or others) on the second screen. I would use a different app in a heartbeat if it wasn't for my organisation. We all hate this app!!!
