Teams calls with WH-1000XM3

Hi all,

I have an issue with my headphones (WH-1000XM3) when having teams calls probably after the last team update to version 1.5.00.28361 as it was working fine before. The issue is that I cannot use the stereo setting when on call which provides the noise cancellation feature of my headphones. Please note that this feature works fine in all the other applications I am using including youtube, skype etc.

So here are my default settings which won't give me noise cancellation.

If I switch to stereo I only hear my voice. (cannot hear the rest that is in the call)

    Hi Paulo,

The settings configured by you would not use the 1000XM3 mic and hence totally defeat the purpose of "Noise Cancellation" headphone as the NC feature will not work in the current configuration. That's the reason you're hearing more noise as compared to earlier.

I'm not sure why this hasn't been fixed yet. The same happened over an year ago, but it got fixed with updates. But it's not the same this time.

I'm 1000% sure that this issue is from MS Team's end as my 1000xm3 headphone works well with other apps like ZOOM, GoTo etc.

    Thanks.

I second this. On my PC that the issue only occurs in the Teams app, not the web version. Using 1.6.00.22378, windows 10.

In the Teams app, the noise cancelling is disabled as soon as a call is started. Only way to get it back is to bounce the headphones (Sony WH-1000XM3).

    Hello,

Has anyone found the fix ? Please keep us updated.

Is this issue only with 1000 XM3 or XM4 as well ? Can anyone confirm this ?

    Thanks.

    I have the same issue.

Does anyone know the official response from Microsoft as this is their issue as the headphones are working perfect elsewhere?

This is definitively a problem specific to Teams and this model of headset. Whether the headset is doing something "wrong" that other vendors work around or whether the problem is a bug in the Microsoft tech stack is unknown. Microsoft only really "guarantees" that Teams Certified headsets will be fully compatible. For everything else it's a, "your mileage may vary" position.

I don't think we'll get a public statement, but it can't hurt to keep voting/commenting on the issue as new versions roll out and the issue persists. That at least makes it more likely that someone will prioritize a permanent fix.

I continue to have some success with the "NEW Teams", so I'm hopeful that once it's stable enough to just be the standard version, maybe it will be a solved problem.
