Teams calls with WH-1000XM3

Hi all,

I have an issue with my headphones (WH-1000XM3) when having teams calls probably after the last team update to version 1.5.00.28361 as it was working fine before. The issue is that I cannot use the stereo setting when on call which provides the noise cancellation feature of my headphones. Please note that this feature works fine in all the other applications I am using including youtube, skype etc.

So here are my default settings which won't give me noise cancellation.

If I switch to stereo I only hear my voice. (cannot hear the rest that is in the call)

Possibly the same issue: I got used to having the noise cancelling enabled in MX3 while in meetings even though it was a bit weird at first not hearing myself properly. However, in noisy environment this was a MUST feature as otherwise I couldn't hear anything in the meeting. Now I hear myself in the meetings but I also hear the loud noise around me, which totally destroys the purpose of noise cancelling headset. This has changed in past month or so in Teams for me. This is not an issue with ANY OTHER software that captures my headset mic for meetings, recordings etc.

At least following do NOT solve the issue:

    • Mute myself
    • Change audio device (The same headset is shown as both "Hands-free" and "Stereo")
    • Change noise suppression settings, and all the other available settings in the Teams Meeting Device settings.
    • Disable "Listen to this device", disable all audio enhancements, allow/deny exclusive control in device settings
    • Disable every single other mic device
    • Reboot the headphones, reboot the computer
    • Fiddle with the NC/Ambient/Off settings of the headphones meeting
    • Update all drivers, and windows (though I still have to stick with Win10)
    • Pray for some entities and curse others, then vice versa.

Luckily there is ONE way to get around this issue: Use the web version of Teams. This works because browser does the mic capturing instead of Teams app; and I believe this also proves that the root cause of the issue is in Teams app.

    Hi,

Same problem here... using Win10 and Teams 1.6.00.18681.

Workaround that I used was described here on one of comments:

    • changed speaker to STEREO using WH-1000MX3
    • mic to use the mic of notebook

    Image

This ended the problem of AMBIENT SOUND using NOISE CANCEL of WH-1000MX3 until a definitive fix was provided. Of course that this revoked my capability of do meetings away from my computer... but hear any noise increased by WH-1000MX3 mics... was sooo weird!

    Best Regards,
