Microsoft Teams status is stuck on "Out of Office"

I recently went on vacation and accessed Teams from my tablet for the first time by installing the Teams app. Now I am back at work and using my work laptop. Even though I have signed out of the Teams app on my tablet and removed my work account from all Microsoft apps on my tablet, my Teams status is still stuck as "Out of Office." How can I change it to "Available?"

Things I have tried:

  1. (tablet) Changing status to "Available" on the tablet app
  2. (tablet) Signing out of the tablet app
  3. (tablet) Removing my work accounts from my tablet completely
  4. (laptop) Signing in and out of the Teams app
  5. (laptop) clicking on my profile pic and changing the status to "Available" or any other status. (There is no change at all)
  6. (laptop) typing in the command to change my status to available (no change at all)
  7. (browser) Accessing Teams through Chrome on my laptop and doing 5 and 6 (no effect)

Note that my Skype and Outlook status is correctly set to "Available." I'm at a complete loss and would really like help with this.

Solution: create new all day meeting and save. Cancel the meeting. Teams status is refreshed.

    Or

You simply set an out office reply (even though you are no longer out of office) to display at a time close to when you are setting it up and to shut off at the next available time....usually 15 minute increments...for it to stop displaying.  It will clear the message in Teams after it reaches the time you scheduled it to shut off.

i.e. if I was doing this right now I would set my OOO to start displaying at 1:15 pm and to turn off at 1:30 pm the same day.  Problem solved.

This is what finally worked for me to solve this issue this morning.  Nothing near as complicated as other posts/processes.  I went into my out of office auto reply in Outlook and set it to only display during a certain time frame today (even though I am in the office today) instead of all the time.  I did this at 8:20 am.  I set the auto reply/out of office message to expire/stop sending at 8:30 am today.  Problem solved.   Status immediately changed to only AVAILABLE at 8:30 am today.

With that said, I think it's ridiculous that Microsoft automatically uses the verbiage from your out of office message in Outlook to use in Teams.  I want a different message for my contacts in Teams.  Hopefully this will change soon.

I ended up fixing it by turning the out of office back and and then immediately off. I guess I found a bug?

I tried this but no change for me or my users unfortunately...

Thank you so much for the solution.

Yes- the only Resolution is to Go to Outlook - or your email application.

Go to the Calendars and DELETE all the emails which show- OUT OF OFFICE-  these emails were autoaccepted or accepted by you, delete Out of Office emails for all the members of your office you see.

Once done, wait for about 15 to 20 minutes -  restart your computer, logout and log in from Teams- and makes sure that youre on Available status.

Thank you very much for the resolution guys. i appreciate all the help

This is definitely a bug. I tried all the above to change my status and even deleted the text in the automatic reply box in the OWA. It still said I was out of office with the previous message in Teams. It showed me as available in the OWA. What seemed to fix it was deleting the all day event I had on my calendar-- which was not set to show me in a different location.

This is the first time this has happened to me and it's also the first time I set up the automatic reply through a mobile browser in the OWA as opposed to going through a standard browser on my laptop. Not sure if that makes a difference or helps.
