When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.
I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.
Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?
It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

Microsoft Teams should have an option to mute in software only and or use the hardware to mute itself., e.g. disable hardware acceleration on the microphone and hence just mute in software.
This is the best option at this point. Teams is trying to "sync" the mute options between software and hardware. They need an option to enable or disable this depending on the end user hardware.
What is happening is that the teams app is sending a signal for the entire OS and not just for teams.
The signal it sends causes devices to play their mute sound. Whatever it is. It should NOT be muting the device, only teams itself. That is how it USED TO WORK. They CHANGED it. They are bad people. They should be punished. Microsoft should send them to go work at Twitter for a month as penance.
Its pretty darn clear this is a software problem, and MICROSOFT SHOULD FIX IT BECAUSE TEAMS IS BAD ENOUGH ALREADY.
That's not 100% correct. I agree that Microsoft should give users the option to disable this "feature", but it does work correctly when paired with a Teams certified headset. I have a Logitech headset that is Teams certified. When I mute within Teams, the mute light on the headset illuminated giving me a hardware reminder that I muted. The problem arises when using headsets that provide audio feedback to notify the end-user they are muted. The simplest solution is providing an option within Teams to enable or disable the mute synchronization.
I agree, form y AfterShokz headset it should be configurable, some how if you want this mute beep beep beep sound or not. I could even argue Aftershokz is wrong in this...I mean, I am not on hold...I just mute....but still want to hear what other people say, then the beep beep beep sound is really annoying. Whi at Aftershokz thought that it would be a good idea.
