Loud Beeping when Muted in a MS Teams Call

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.

I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.

Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?

It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

    when i press the mute button in teams it mutes the headset properties also. If i disable the headset being muted then the beep goes away. This disabling the mic in both teams and windows is causing the beep sound. Here are example pictures

    If you click the speaker icon in the picture above you will still be muted in teams but the double beep will go away

    This issue is being caused by clicking mute in teams and would likely affect many sound devices. The most likely cause of this beep issue is that the wrong function is being used to to mute the headset. The function being used is muting the device to all of windows rather than just to teams. This is incorrect regardless as teams should only mute input to itself and not all of windows. The double beep is likely a result of a check in teams for a mic, and when it no longer discovers a mic because it muted the mic in windows, it gives the double beep no mic found warning.

    The issue this issue happens on using Teams desktop client not the Teams web client.
    However it isn't practical to use the web client for call where you're likely to need to mute.

    No no, what i mean is that after using once the web client i returned to use the desktop app and i have no more issue is it clear ? Today many call zero problem

    I am also having this problem recently on my work laptop. Its keeps beeping when I muted myself in Teams app.

    I hope microsoft can do something about it.

    The only workaround now is to use teams on google chrome and the problem is solved
