Loud Beeping when Muted in a MS Teams Call

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.

I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.

Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?

It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

I tried that over a month ago & even screen shot this thread where people were being sent them. Shokz "customer support" refused to resolve the issue by sending the adapter.

Even more irritated that it still doesn't work. I try to connect it to my laptop & I cannot use the sound settings. Something is up with the type of adapter I think.

Sorry to hear that but I did not have trouble with them on this. After I described the issue, they told me that they would send the dongle to me for free for resolving this issue. That was , may be, two months ago, not sure why they would not do that again. Try agian may be it's the issue with whoever answering the phone!

I used TP link dogle before when I had this annoying issue. Everything is working fine with the Aftershokz's dongle.

I have found another work around as well. In Teams go to your settings and keep your speakers to your headphones but your mic to your computer. You can mute the computers mic through teams without the beep.

    Workaround:

I have tried most if not all the workarounds posted here and none of them worked. The only thing that has work for me is Custom Setup in devices setting. Speaker: AfterShokz Mic: whatever your laptop has for a mic.

This is not ideal and if you are not using a laptop you may not have another mic to pick.

My laptop has been working fine with my Aftershokz headset for six months. Now all of a sudden today, every time I mute I'm blasted with this obnoxious deafening double-beep from hell constantly for the duration of the meeting. Can someone explain why this changed today? why has it been fine until now? What can I do to revert to the older behavior? This is absolutely unacceptable behavior, rendering Microsoft Teams and/or my headset useless. Switching to a different microphone is neither an acceptable nor a reasonable resolution.
