When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.
I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.
Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?
It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

I have to exit the meetings I am in because of the loud beeping noise while on mute. When it is an instructional meeting, it is too distracting to continue. Our company of 2000 + employees are all moving our meetings to zoom to avoid people dropping off. This is a horrible design by microsoft.

The problem is that changing the system-level Mute status on the recording device is a temporary fix. The root cause of this issue is that when you hit the Mute button in teams, it's also muting the recording device in Windows. It's not just muted for Teams, it's muted for EVERYTHING, and that's what causes the Shokz headset to warn you that it's muted.
You can temporarily unmute it at the system, and it stays muted in Teams. But next time you toggle the mute button in Teams, it mutes the system again and you're back to square 1. This is no fix.
Same problem with Shokz Open Comm. Actually bought a new headset, as I thought that my previous set was broken. It is really frustrating. I hate needing to use a wired headset. Pls Fix!!!
I have the same issue. I turn the Aftershokz headphones off and back on to stop the beeping.
