Loud Beeping when Muted in a MS Teams Call

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.

I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.

Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?

It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

    I am going to buy a bluetooth audio adapter as I suspect it will fix the problem on windows -- windows treats it like an audio adapter. It's a hardware fix for a software bug...

    I was experiencing the same issues and nothing really solved it. I tried everything.

    I ended up reaching out to the Shokz support team and they sent me a USB Bluetooth adapter for free.

    This is still a workaround. I have this issue with a Microsoft Surface and a USB Bluetooth dongle is just not practical for mobile workstations.

    I went into the teams settings and changed the mic to the laptop and left aftershokz as the headset. I stayed on mute and the beeping permanently stopped or at least until I rebooted the laptop.
