Loud Beeping when Muted in a MS Teams Call

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.

I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.

Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?

It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

Yesterday (2022-Oct-27) I got a MS Teams update to version 1.5.00.28361 by my company software rollout. Now I have the same issue with my Shokz OpenRun Pro, which worked perfectly up to now.

When pressing Mute/Unmute in MS Teams, the headset plays "Mute On" or "Mute Off". In my opinion unnecessary, but okay.

But it's absolutly annoying, that the headset plays a loud double-beep every ~5 seconds, when muted in MS Teams.

Please fix this issue, because the Shokz headset is so comfortable to wear!

    Thanks,

    Jan

My laptop has been working fine with my Aftershokz headset for six months. Now all of a sudden today, every time I mute I'm blasted with this obnoxious deafening double-beep from hell constantly for the duration of the meeting. Can someone explain why this changed today? why has it been fine until now? What can I do to revert to the older behavior? This is absolutely unacceptable behavior, rendering Microsoft Teams and/or my headset useless. Switching to a different microphone is neither an acceptable nor a reasonable resolution.

I'm having this issue too! From today! It is terrible. I have no idea what is happening!

    Workaround:

I have tried most if not all the workarounds posted here and none of them worked. The only thing that has work for me is Custom Setup in devices setting. Speaker: AfterShokz Mic: whatever your laptop has for a mic.

This is not ideal and if you are not using a laptop you may not have another mic to pick.

I have found another work around as well. In Teams go to your settings and keep your speakers to your headphones but your mic to your computer. You can mute the computers mic through teams without the beep.
