Managing sound and video settings during Teams meetings and calls for optimal communication

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.
I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.
Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?
It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

yes, only have to unmute with Teams to be able to speak again. But if you mute (or been muted), you have to do the same again...
I contacted the Shokz Customer Service, and here's their advice:
Hi Tapio Anttonen,
We are sorry to know your headphone is beeping when you mute the microphone. In fact the beeping when on mute is a default setting of the headphones to remind users that their microphone is muting, in case they can not be heard by others when talking.
Since the software (Teams) upgrade to a new version recently, the instruction of muting microphone from the software is synced to the headphone successfully, that's why you hear it now while previously no.
For such situation, we would offer some advice for you:
a. Mute the microphone via the device, rather than headphones button;
b.You could try using the web version of Team instead of the client-side Team. Or another internet browser like MS Edge.
c. Change the software to Zoom/Googlemeet, which verified there is no beeping when mute.
Feel free to contact us again if there is any further assistance we can offer.
Best regards,
Delia

Comments:
a) Won't help. Apparently, and surprisingly Shokz is not quite aware of the problem. Device? Meaning the computer, or Teams?
b) Okei, but I prefer using the Teams app instead of the web version, because it works better. And I prefer Firefox over Edge. Why Shokz is reluctant to make improvements and asking the customer to be more flexible.
c) No way. It's not just me using Teams, all the 50000+ colleagues at HEIs in Finland plus zillion around the Globe. A bit too much to ask.
Tapio Anttonen, the "hack" is: after you muted in Teams (--> headset muted also), then "unmute" on the headset (presssing +/- together for 1-2 sec). I will unmute the headset, but the windows didn't get it, so Teams remains muted.
Thanks László twice!
I'll try it next time. I
So, in order to reopen the mic, one needs to unmute Teams, and then mute again the same way, right?
