Loud Beeping when Muted in a MS Teams Call

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.

I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.

Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?

It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

    There is not only Opencomm Afterashokz.

    Same issue with my SENNHEISER M2 IEBT (In-Ear Wireless headphones) too.

    Same issue with my Opencomm Afterashokz, started the 7th of Novembre 2022, this is very frustrating,

    When will be fixed ?

    Afetrshokz support vi chat propose to use the webclient but this could be only a temporary solution .....

    I've been using Shokz OpenComm and Jabra wireless headsets and Logitech USB headsets for years and this problem has just started for me in the last week. On all headsets.

    The quick fix (so far) seems to be just to join the meeting in the browser (I'm using Edge). No problem and NO BEEPS everything works as expected.

    The best part - no reset of the headsets, no "one-time" cheats. Just put the meeting in a tab and enjoy.

    Looking at you Microsoft, this suggests the issue is in the Desktop app. It's certainly not with the hardware since brand and even connection type doesn't matter.

    I've had my Shokz Opencomm Bone Conduction headset with Mic since July 2022 and have had no issues. So, mine just started doing this about 2weeks ago. When I mute in TEAMS on meetings/calls it goes to beeping and when I unmute MIC the beeping goes away. $160 for my headset w/ MIC seems like a waste of money at this point to me.

    When will this issue get resolved or any other tips or tricks?

    Hi.

    Just to add some additional info: I have a Sennheiser headset, it has worked fine for months in Teams with Windows 10, and worked fine in Teams with Fedora Linux either, now, since almost a month I have the same problem in the Windows machine, while in Linux keeps working fine.

    Another clue: when I tried in Google Meet in Windows, teh same problem appears, so I guess it's a Windows issue more than a Teams issue.

    Sadly, I have very limited access to configs in Windows machine since it's organization managed, and I don't have administrator level.

    Hope this helps to find the real problem.
