Loud Beeping when Muted in a MS Teams Call

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.

I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.

Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?

It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

For now, what I am having to do, is click "mute" on the Teams application. This causes the Aftershockz headphones to mute at the hardware level, and not on the audio interface on the computer. This triggers the headphones to remind you they are muted (I assume a feature of Aftershocks). However, this communication seems to be one way -- from the PC to the headset.

Once the Teams application is muted, you can hold the buttons down on your Aftershockz headset to un-mute. This will turn off the mute function on headset but it doesn't not communicate this back to the PC. This results in your Teams software to still be muted while your headset is not. Only when the headset is muted does the annoying and very loud "beep" play. To resume talking, unmute the Teams application. To Mute again -- mute Teams, unmute headset... uhg.. yeah.. annoying.. but it works.

MS is aware of this and I assumed they are still collecting feedback information. I'm not sure how reliable that is but at least there is an official response.

I got this info from someone on here who posted yesterday with a link to MS Team Feedback with Official MicroSoft Response:

"To all people responding over the last few days that want the Microsoft Teams team to fix this. Please add your voice and vote to their feedback portal:

    https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/83697ca5-6d79-ec11-8d21-0022482779ae "

Here is the note from that link above:

Roman F. Official Microsoft response ·1 month ago Thank you for your feedback on this issue of devices that beep when muted. The team has added to their backlog an item which would allow you to choose how muting is handled, and this can also prevent beeping while muted. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

13 months, 879 people saying "I have the same question," and 23 pages of people saying the "solutions" aren't working...

And Microsoft has nothing to say, nothing to offer?

    Seriously?
