Managing sound and video settings during Teams meetings and calls for optimal communication

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.
I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.
Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?
It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

Hi I have the same issue with Teams and Shokz. My organization uses both Teams and Zoom. The issue is not occurring in Zoom, so it is Teams, not Windows that is creating the problem. I am moving meetings from Teams to Zoom wherever possible as a work-around until this is fixed because the Shokz headsets are becoming more common in my organization.
I just received the adaptor & it works like a charm! I prefer not to use my internal laptop mic (if that's what you meant by webcam mic) since it picks up too much extra sound (even the internal fan). The OpenComm cancels all that out so really needed the fix the headset :-).
10/13 - update
The dongle did work well until I had a power blip & then everything was reset. The order in which you set up the dongle makes a difference (not truly plug & play), so I'm now just un-muting my headset when muted on TEAMS (Thanks Brian P35 :-). ah well.
This worked for me.
Goto Teams Device Settings... and set your Microphone to be your webcam's mic
and not your headset's mic.
I contacted Shokz & they only provided the OpenComm adapter for free when the problem was 1st encountered. Since they've come out w/OpenComm2 UC (that comes w/the adapter) they sell the Loop110 wireless adapter separately for $49.95. They sent me a $9 off coupon since I'm having the issue. I haven't purchased it yet, but have seen LOTS of replies that this has helped! Hope this helps anyone else.
