Loud Beeping when Muted in a MS Teams Call

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.

I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.

Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?

It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

I Received a new Aftershokz headset earlier this week.

Old Headset had no issue with Microsoft Teams.

However, During a meeting today, I was unpleasantly surprised by this Terrible double beep everyone is describing. My head is still spinning.

Terrible experience to have to present after listening to this noise.

The only temporary fix for me was what another user cited

'As stated above...long press on + and - on headset at same time and you will hear "Mute off" command. Now double tone is gone when I mute in MS Teams. Thanks BizUser123 for the tip'

However, Immediately after unmuting and muting, the noise continues.

But I least for now I can be muted long term without drawback.

I reached out to Aftershokz, I hope they help. Their customer experience was fantastic previously.

My laptop has been working fine with my Aftershokz headset for six months. Now all of a sudden today, every time I mute I'm blasted with this obnoxious deafening double-beep from hell constantly for the duration of the meeting. Can someone explain why this changed today? why has it been fine until now? What can I do to revert to the older behavior? This is absolutely unacceptable behavior, rendering Microsoft Teams and/or my headset useless. Switching to a different microphone is neither an acceptable nor a reasonable resolution.

What the?! We have multiple users with this issue. Now I should tell them to mute / unmute in system settings? Or purchase new hardware? Why is there no switch in Teams? How about a simple visual hint? We can click that away and that's it. This feels like a real marketing bulls... we will look for the Teams verified logo and avoid that in the future.

I've been having the same issue with my Aftershokz Air, for the past few weeks now.

Note, this is only happening on the desktop application, the issue doesn't occur on the mobile app.

None of the proposed workarounds have worked for me.
