Loud Beeping when Muted in a MS Teams Call

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.

I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.

Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?

It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

    Tapio Anttonen, the "hack" is: after you muted in Teams (--> headset muted also), then "unmute" on the headset (presssing +/- together for 1-2 sec). I will unmute the headset, but the windows didn't get it, so Teams remains muted.

    Hello!

    My work around for my Shokz headset was the addition (purchase of) a special dongle. It seems to have resolved the teams loud beeping while on mute. But opened up other issues. on other devices. I'm hoping MS teams resolves this soon.

    Thank you for your feedback on this issue of devices that beep when muted. The team has added to their backlog an item which would allow you to choose how muting is handled, and this can also prevent beeping while muted. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

    And as I noted in an earlier post, a recent Windows Update has made this workaround stop working, as the mute controls from the Shokz headset no longer seem to have any control over the Teams meeting.

    I use airshokz, earphones. I used to hear the beeping. To get rid of the beeping, I joined a TEAMS meeting, then muted myself on the Teams app, triggering the beeping, then I pressed the power and volume buttons on the earphones, simultaneously, for 3 seconds, until the airshocks voice command stated "Mute Off". The beeping went away, and i stayed muted on TEAMs.
