Teams away setting automatically switching on when not away

Hi there, 

My teams status is constantly switching to "away" while I am working on my computer. This is very frustrating as my co-workers need to know when I am actually away or available.

Is there a manual override for this? It would be excellent to be able to set it as available so that my team knows they can reach my even if I am working on paper, or in this case if it has switched itself to "away".

    Having the exact same issue.  A fix would be very nice. 

    Agreed...it happens to me all the time and I find it very unfair as it effects our reputation as we are shown as away while in reality we are working using other applications whilst keeping Teams in the background.

    Microsoft please take this seriously and provide a quick fix for this issue. All you need is to provide an option to the user to enable configuration of the "Away" timeout or if you don't want to allow users to configure it just change it to 60 minutes.

    This started happening to me a lot more frequently after moving to Teams-only mode from Skype for Business for our phones last week. 

    This seemed to fix it for me (so far):

    Uninstall Teams from the Control Panel.

    Delete the C:\Users*username*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams folder.

    Download and install Teams from Microsoft (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/download-app).

    Open Teams and click the profile picture and "Check for updates".  

    Click the "Refresh" prompt in the banner to relaunch Teams when the updates were finished.

    I gave this a try, so will keep you posted! So far, this seems like a good temporary fix, and I haven't seen the issue since I did these steps.  :) Fingers Crossed!

    Recently received this O365 update notification.  Hopefully this will fix the problem we've been having.

    That doesn't seem like a fix so much as an override of the Away status resetting itself. Hope I am wrong.

    my status mode was working great for about 5 days, then all my profile pictures disappeared yesterday, so I did what BatmanBob said and all my profile pictures came back - BUT now my status changes every five minutes to away just like before :( . . .

    I've been having the same issue for the past week. It seem to have started when I started using the Teams phone system. That in itself is another issue.
