Teams away setting automatically switching on when not away

Hi there,

My teams status is constantly switching to "away" while I am working on my computer. This is very frustrating as my co-workers need to know when I am actually away or available.

Is there a manual override for this? It would be excellent to be able to set it as available so that my team knows they can reach my even if I am working on paper, or in this case if it has switched itself to "away".

Thanks!

I am experiencing the same issue.  I am actively working on my machine, with teams in the background; however, my status is set to away after 5 minutes.  My machine is not idle , asleep, etc...; I am using the machine actively when this occurs.

This is negatively affecting my work performance and perception in the workplace, and I know several others who are experiencing the same.  If anyone has experienced this and explored alternatives to teams, please let me know.

Yes, apparently, there is no fix for this.  Teams just launched in my organization & I can’t count how many people are complaining.  To me alone, 100 people.  There needs to be a fix for this as when I am supervising staff, I need a more accurate way to measure and my boss needs a more accurate way to measure that I am available as well.

The problem is Teams changes to yellow or red when I work in Microsoft Excel so Teams is a bad big sibling - it squeals on you even when you are behaving a k a working diligently at home on the priorities given by the manager though not on Teams.

I agree with everyone on this thread.  It's ridiculous that Teams changes status to Away even when still logged in and working on the computer, just because one is not working in Teams at the time.  We are moving our work from Skype to Teams and everyone looks at status to see if they are actually available or not.  Microsoft needs to fix this.

    Hi Seven,

Is there an article explaining how this works?

I will need to reference something when explaining this to my superiors....

    Thanks

    Caleb
