Moving posts from one channel/Team to another?

Very large company here.

It is quite incredible that in 2023 we cant still move a discussion from one channel to another.

Please wake up MS Devs !! Are you only using Teams @ Microsoft to not realize that this is an extremely annoying lack of feature that should get implemented ASAP ??

You need to order and organize your channels when you have large groups of people because you can't assume that all of them will properly post the proper information in the proper channel. And then everything becomes a complete mess because we don't have basic moderation tools !

I mean this is a FACT since the first forums in the 90ies and you still don't realize it ??

I agree completely. Moving posts would be very helpful, and it seems like it used to work but does not any longer, is that true?

Also - the ability to make private channels public. The private channels are far too crippled.

Ditto here... a feature really needed to effectively groom an evolving Team Community.

It would also be nice if it were possible to copy as set of Team Chat messages into a channel as a conversation. I can't count the number of times a thread is started in a chat conversation that really should have initiated in a Team Channel. Just like moving a conversation posted in the wrong channel to a new channel... it would be useful for Team Chats as well.

Careful! I just posted in the wrong channel, so I tried moving the post using the method below. But what happened is that my original post was deleted from the thread in Teams, and the replies did not move over.

1. Selected the three dots menu next to the post
2. Clicked "Edit"
3. Clicked "Post in multiple channels"
4. Added the channel where I wanted to move the post to.
5. Tried deleting the current channel, but this failed because it was listed as the "Source" channel.
6. Switched over to the new, destination channel for the post.
7. Clicked the three dots menu next to the post and "Edit."
8. Deleted the source channel from here.

As I said, the post was deleted from the original thread, and the replies did not move. So I moved it back but couldn't neatly link the posts together again.

So, in case you considered trying that approach, it does not work. Hoping for a fix from Microsoft.

Teams is basically a shell over Sharepoint, with chat added to sunset Skype.

As such, Teams seems like the lowest priority for MSFT and it shows: 3 years and still cannot move chat from Channel A to Channel B, which by IT standard is a low ask.

This is making some companies rethink the usage of this tool and why shouldn't they? If any company gives up on a publicly offered piece of software, it loses their client's faith.

I mean Windows 95 -> Windows 98 was a 3 year (seemingly) gap but there were updates aplenty to Win95 during that time. Clearly a priority was placed because it was a OS for the public while Teams is an afterthought of an application.
