MS Teams Helper using up >100% of CPU MacBook

Since the latest update of MS Teams (current version 1.3.00.9271 updated on 07/05/20) on a MacBook (early 2015), every time I now join a Teams call, the Microsoft Teams Helper is using >100% of CPU and causing the laptop to overheat. I have disabled the GPU acceleration as seen on some other message boards but this has no impact, and could do with a fix for this ASAP.

Many thanks in advance.

    You really must fix this.

    This is incredible:

I can't do anything on my Mac when in a Teams meeting. This problem has been for a really long time now, so I understand that we should find other solutions that Microsoft products to get things done.

I've been having the same issue for months and today I think it's finally resolved! :)

It might be a workaround only but I've just tuned off GPU hardware acceleration on Teams and now I am using it incredibly smooth on Macbook Pro 2017 Big Sur (11.2.2). No side effects and CPU/memory usage down to normal.

How to disable GPU hardware acceleration and animations.

    • Click the user profile picture and then Settings.
    • In the Settings window, check Disable GPU hardware acceleration and Turn off animations.
    • Close and restart Microsoft Teams

    Be happy!

Just started using this on our Macs...It's eating up the CPU and GPU.  Really surprised about this.  Have used Zoom and Google on the same machine and it works great.  Thought it may just be a quirk of the machine, but now I see it's widespread.  Gee whiz MS, please fix this!

COME ON, MICROSOFT!!! THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE!!

EVERYONE IS FORCED TO USE YOUR SOFTWARE BUT IF THEY HAVE A MAC THEY ARE UNFAIRLY PENALISED!!!

    DO SOMETHING!!

    85% + 77% OF MY CPU!?!??!?!?
