Opening Teams app using link on a Mac

We now have a few customers facing this same issue.

Sample steps:

• Receive e-mail with a link to a files folder in Teams
• Click on the link will open this in Safari (default browser)
• User can't do anything

Expected behavior:

• Receive e-mail with a link to a files folder in Teams
• Click on the link will open this in Safari (default browser)
• Link will automaticly redirect the user to the installed Teams app

I hope there is a solution for this.

When I get a link in an e-mail on my Mac (using outlook as e-mail client), neither Safari nor Chrome recognize that I have the desktop app installed and I can only view using the web app.  Any ideas on how to solve this?  My IT department is no help on this.  I have reinstalled Teams multiple times, rebooted, etc.

I have same issue. Any link to file provided by e-mail by colleagues does not work - does not open already installed MS Teams desktop applications -> only browser (safari) is being open offering installation of MS Teams desktop. Despite the fact it is already installed....

If I use chrome for same link it is opened in chrome browser but not in MS Desktop Application.

I was able to fix this issue by right-clicking Teams in the taskbar, 'Quit' Teams, and then re-open Teams. Then when joining a meeting it opened correctly from the Mac Teams app again. I suspect fully rebooting your Mac should also do the trick. Hope this helps.

I copy the link from Outlook in to a Teams chat window, then click on the link. Lame, but it works.

I am having the very same issue.

In the case of the Edge browser, it is just opening the teams web interface. But Safari is weird:

Note how the tab says it's an error, but the actual page says "you can use it" but you can't because there is no link to take you to where you were going to go. Clicking on the "Download App" button does nothing. Perhaps because I already have the app installed? But it doesn't open the app either.

In both cases (Edge and Safari) I have no way of opening the link in the Teams app.
