Reinstalling fixes the issue for a day or so, then it starts back.

Hi GeorgeRoberson,

Since reinstall Teams can temporarily fix this issue, you can try to sign out and kill Teams from Task Manager to see how it goes.

If the problem persists, you can try to clear Teams cache to see if it can help:

1.  Fully exit the Microsoft Teams desktop client. You can right click Teams from the Icon Tray and select ‘Quit’ or run Task Manager and fully kill the process.

2.  Go to File Explorer, and type in %appdata%\Microsoft\teams.

3.  Once in the directory, you’ll see a few of the following folders:

========================================================

 a.  From within ‘Application Cache’, go to Cache and delete any of the files in the Cache location.

    *   %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\application cache\cache

 b.  From within ‘Blob_storage’, delete any files that are located in here if any.

    *   %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\blob_storage

 c.  From within ‘Cache’, delete all files.

    *   %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Cache

 d.  From within ‘databases’, delete all files.

    *   %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\databases

 e.  From within ‘GPUCache’, delete all files.

    *   %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\GPUcache

 f.  From within ‘IndexedDB’, delete the .db file.

    *   %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\IndexedDB

 g.  From within ‘Local Storage’, delete all files.

    *   %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Local Storage

 h.  Lastly, from within ‘tmp’, delete any file.

*   %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\tmp

====================================================

Once the cleanup is finally completed, you can now restart Teams and check the results.

Best Regards,

Sylvie

    It worked for me, too. Thanks so much.

    While other answers were not solving the issue, this one fixed it immediately, thank you for sharing this!

    Although I do wonder, why this has happened in the first place, as Teams was working just fine for me in the previous day.

    Lord_Graham

    This did work for me thank you however, my behaviour after following your steps were:

    The sign prompt box was white/blank with only a flashing text cursor but when entering text nothing appeared, after 30 seconds or so this disappeared and was replaced with the original error message "We're sorry -- We've run into an issue", after a few seconds this then also disappeared and the email prompt box appeared where I was then able to enter my password and login. I will check if I have this issue the next time my machine starts

    I tried the fixes on here and none worked for me.

    I did manage to find a fix that did work -

    • Close Teams and make sure it is not running in task manager.
    • Open File Explorer and go to this folder > %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Teams\current\
    • Scroll down and select ‘Teams.exe’, right-click and select ‘Properties’
    • Switch to the ‘Compatibility’ tab, Check the box for ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select ‘Windows 8’ from the drop-down menu.

    If you don't see a compatibility tab in the properties menu you can do the following

    • Right click ‘Teams.exe’ and choose 'Troubleshoot Compatibility'.
    • Choose 'Troubleshoot Program'
    • Select 'The program worked in an earlier version of windows but won't install or run now'
    • This should allow you to choose windows 8 and test the program.

    If it's worked, when you reload you should be asked to log in again and it will all be working fine.

    Hope this works for you too.
