Recent update to Teams causes beeping in headset when on mute

Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.

Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.

This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

Beeping is still there with my Opencom headset. You've given me false hope ;-)

When I heard the "mute on" message in my headset after clicking mute button I knew it was going to beep sooner or later.

Maybe the magic update has not been rolled out for everyone yet but my Windows 10 enterprise is up to date.

Mmmmm It's beeping again... It was probably a fortunate glitch...

    Too bad for us.

I had a burst of hope when I saw your reply Jack, but this is a Sennheiser f/w upgrade, right ?
