Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.
Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.
This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Works! I can't believe it! The Setting is in Teams.
I tried that, but, sadly, it didn't fix the issue with my Shokz Opencomm device. I know I shouldn't be surprised, but Microsoft is derelict for not rolling back the change that caused this.
Its a bit frustrating that this is still ongoing. I bought a new headset after my old one broke and thought it was an issue with the new headset. Multiple people in this thread and other people I know have stated how it is Teams, not the headset.
Can we please have a fix for this Microsoft, even just an option to turn it off or keep it on?
This noise is incredibly annoying when in a long group meeting.
I have this same issue. My workaround is that in Teams I set the microphone to the built in laptop microphone. Seems to work for the larger calls that I'm mostly listen-only.
I have been using this method too. The other day they had to do a wipe of all Office apps on my pc, then reinstall. The version they installed with Office 365 from their image is 1.4.00.22472 64 bit, and for the last couple of days I have had blessed silence. Not sure how long it will last but for now I'm happy.
