Managing sound and video settings during Teams meetings and calls for optimal communication
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Works! I can't believe it! The Setting is in Teams.

Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.
Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.
This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

Ran into this problem today for the first time using my Sennheiser 450HD headset. So annoying to run into this when your in a meeting!
I've come up with two work-arounds:
After making this change, I found that when making a test call from the Teams setting menu, the my audio was muted by clicking on the on-screen mute button, but the headset's mute function was not engaged- no more double beep.
I have not tested this in an actual meeting yet, and I'm not certain that their won't be other side effects to changing this setting. YMMV.
Hope this helps!
I'm currently using workaround #1 but your #2 is even better. It's probably the best we can do atm.
Sound Settings -> Input - Device properties -> Additional device properties -> Advanced tab -> uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"
It has something to do with new "Music" button at the top. I had mine fixed and then I clicked that "Enable High Fidelity Mode" and it came back. Now I cannot get rid of it.
I was excited to try this but unfortunately it doesn't work for me with an Aeropex headset. The eternal beeping persists. Extremely annoying bug.
