Recent update to Teams causes beeping in headset when on mute

Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.

Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.

This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

Temporary work around that allows the mic to work also:

    While in Teams meeting:

Open Sound Settings - Select Sound Control Panel - Select the "Recording" tab - Highlight the OpenComm by AfterShoks Headset - Click Properties -

Select the levels tab - Mute using the Teams mic button -

You will notice that the speaker button on the levels tab is now muted. Unmute using that speaker button. The Teams button still stays muted but the beeping stops. During this call you can now use the Teams mic button to mute and unmute like normal.

I've gone to leaving the Headset Properties up with the levels tab open. In each new call, you'll need to toggle the speaker button to make the beeping stop until the vendors figure it out.

I tried changing these settings this morning, and Teams was still connecting to my OpenComm just like before. It's odd and puzzling.

I emailed Shokz support and they are going to send me a "UC dongle" also called the Loop 100. I hope that fixes it. Until then I'm doing what other folks have mentioned: using my laptop microphone as input and using my headset in headphones mode as output.

Wondering if the Loop 100 UC dongle worked for you?

    Thank you.

Still working on 'that' fix :) I'm open to suggestions though...

If I disconnect my headset (Bluetooth Audio settings) and then reconnect while in a Teams meeting, it will stop the 'beeping' until I leave the meeting and reconnect to another.
