Recent update to Teams causes beeping in headset when on mute

Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.

Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.

This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Works! I can't believe it! The Setting is in Teams.

    Similarly for my Sennheiser HD-450BT: after firmware upgrade (now 5.5.1), beeps are gone. Sennheiser removed the beep feature entirely. Problem solved...

    Microsoft --stop with the excuses BEEP BEEP and TURN OFF THIS BEEP BEEP FEATURE!

    Thousands of BEEP BEEP people over YEARS have told you to stop this feature. I use a competitor BEEP BEEP (whenvever the choice is mine). PROBLEM SOLVED!

    However, here are times that I do BEEP BEEP not have a choice. I have to use TEAMS--and I need to mute myself....so I hear BEEP BEEP.

    If you find this post annoying to read---imagine that in your ear.

    Hi,

    In my case after firmware update via Sennheiser android app and driver udpdate to my Dell XPS 15 9500 for the moment i have no issues .

    Add another victim to this crazy problem.

    Completely out of the blue today it's beeping at me on mute, after 2 years with the Aftershokz OpenComm.

    To add to the frustration, the suggested solution to switch to the laptop mic, I lose the audio to my headphones too :(

    So I've stayed unmuted; fortunately I'm in a quiet location for this meeting.

    Ugh.
