Recent update to Teams causes beeping in headset when on mute

Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.

Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.

This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

With Sennheiser HD-450BT you only need to update firmware to the latest. No more repeating beeps while on mute. I updated mine on December 9th (see my post).

I have this issue, don't use any Shokz product and found none of the ideas suggested to work. It is totally a Teams induced issue.

The solution I have found to work for me, when using Teams with my wireless Sennheiser 450BT headset is to simply change the selected microphone in Teams (...More -> Device Settings -> Microphone) to be any available Mic other than the Sennheiser 450BT one; and then mute that Mic as normal (I used the one built in to the PC). No more annoying-Teams-induced beeping when on mute!

I leave the device settings view on screen so that if I then want to use my headset mic, I simply reselect it, unmute and talk away!

    Two clicks and happy~ish days!

Same for me, and I'm sure something similar to this has been posted.

Didn't work for me. My headset doesn't show muted there. If I join a meeting and use that to mute/unmute it does the same thing as the mute button in Teams and I get the beeps.
