Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.
Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.
This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Works! I can't believe it! The Setting is in Teams.
Did you try toggling the on off button for the sync a couple times? May be toggle it ON then reboot. Then Toggle it off and reboot again?
The only thing I know for sure is this works on Trex/Aftershocks headphones connected to the built in Bluetooth adaptor on the PC. Not sure about anything else.
Yep. It was the stealth workaround alright. I had to Quit and restart Teams, then the beeping is (mercifully) gone. Thanks to the community for finding this because Microsoft certainly was not help at all.
Wow, good catch, thanks a lot Brad ! That's exactly what we were all looking for. I don't remember having seen this option before and I looked very thoroughly so I assume it was added at some point. For the sake of clarity they should have called this button "Enable the stupid annoyingly loud beeping sound when muted" ;-)
Personally, I consider this a "fix".
