Teams: Starts and shows Continue button that does nothing

Hi,

I just installed the Microsoft Teams desktop app. When I start it, it says "Welcome to Teams!", offers me a pulldown choice of "Personal", and a button "Continue". Clicking Continue does nothing. What do I do to start using Teams?

Thanks

Hi Iola,

I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.

To give you the background that MS Team free comes in two variants.

  1. MS, Team free personal account(accessible from mobile/web app https://teams.live.com). You don't need to sign for this as it comes with all Microsoft account

It looks like you got the MS teams personal on the Desktop app early to release on your device, but it has not yet worked completely.

I'd suggest waiting for Microsft announcement on MS Teams personal life launch that schedule to release soon this month.

For more, see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/r...

Regards

Nik

This is what worked for me on a PC: I had to uninstall the version I had, which apparently was the free test version of the business version, called Teams Classic. I reinstalled the new free personal version. However, the free version will be discontinued on 12 April 2023. You'll then need to upgrade to the personal 4 usd/mo version. Nothing is free for long with MS...

You may also run into MS account password issues, having to reset and send codes to your phone several times if you haven't logged in for a while.

Finally, if the first time you launched the newly downloaded version, you get a "something happened message", log out and log back in and it should fix the problem.

Explanation here: (if the link gets removed search for Microsoft Teams free classic retirement)

    Good luck everyone!

Nik, the link in the answer has been removed. Perhaps to add this to the answer on the first page when launching (free) Teams after an update. The "freeze" on the Continue button can happen if the incorrect account/organization "Personal" or "None" is selected. In this case, selecting "Personal" got the error. Selecting "None" gets in to the channels.

One for the MS Teams suggestion box? - the error looks like the software is failing, when it is finding no data to load, so we anticipate a popup saying something like "no data here, try another account". Else it's trying to ascertain from logs what's wrong, when, in fact there's nothing wrong at all.

    Thanks.
