Aftershokz headset alerting me that my Teams call is muted

In short, no matter how I try to mute my mic, the headset tells me mute is on and double-beeps every few seconds. It happens if I mute the call, mute in call settings, or even if I simply mute in my laptop's sound settings.

Teams does NOT alert me that I'm muted if I use a different headset or no headset -- only using the Aftershokz headset. This is an Aftershokz problem, not a Teams problem, but Aftershokz tech support has been unhelpful. I'm hoping someone here has a workaround.

This problem cropped up last fall, went away, and now is back.

    Yes, but that also unmutes the team call.

    A year ago I could mute the teams call and it would stop the mic from sending and sound into the teams call but, my headset would still be unmuted. This would stop the headset from beeping. Microsoft changed something and now if I mute teams it also mutes the headset.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH! This fixed the issue with my After Shokz headset and the annoying mute on/off and beeping noise!

    I have this exact same problem, and it's maddening. However, it only started quite recently, within the past month or so.

    I got updated with the 29-Oct-22 release of Teams and got this same issue.

    MicroSoftTeam please release a fix! ... you broke it! ... you fix it! ... don't blame the device that has been working for years.
