Aftershokz headset alerting me that my Teams call is muted

I have the same question posed in this previous thread, but the solution hasn't worked for me. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/double-beep-when-muted-on-teams-aftershokz/d67018d1-7081-4acf-b688-bf947a524058?page=1

In short, no matter how I try to mute my mic, the headset tells me mute is on and double-beeps every few seconds. It happens if I mute the call, mute in call settings, or even if I simply mute in my laptop's sound settings.

Teams does NOT alert me that I'm muted if I use a different headset or no headset -- only using the Aftershokz headset. This is an Aftershokz problem, not a Teams problem, but Aftershokz tech support has been unhelpful. I'm hoping someone here has a workaround.

This problem cropped up last fall, went away, and now is back.

"Unfornately, this is the issue of Aftershokz headset devices typically."

This is not true at all. I've used Aftershokz headsets for 2 years now. As of today it's the first time they've done this, and it's on the back of a Teams update (Version 1.5.00.9163). Do something other than pass the buck and maybe look into it. Maybe contact someone above you. I've seen 3 threads about this including the linked one below.

-Someone who is in constant meetings on mute, and just today is having this issue. No changes to my hardware, which means the problem is you.

    Hi, JS.365

Thanks for your updating. It seems the issue happened on the recent updates for Teams.

Therefore, we would like you to report this issue to MS's deveopers team in left-bottom Help button on your Teams, then report this issue and contact the developers team to see if they can give you further help.

Thanks for your time and your understanding would be highly appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    Zed

Same for me and my Sennheiser HD 350BT. It is definitely problem of MS Teams, because they mute the microphone for whole system instead for MS Teams only -> and it leads to beep sound. I sent feedback to MS teams directly.

    Zed,

I did as you suggested and contacted Teams support. No reply almost two weeks later. Suggestions on expediting a solution to this Teams problem?

As a work around for this, I select in Teams Device Settings, Microphone drop down menu, "USB Audio Device" instead of the AfterShokz device. I am able to mute now without hearing the tones.
