In short, no matter how I try to mute my mic, the headset tells me mute is on and double-beeps every few seconds. It happens if I mute the call, mute in call settings, or even if I simply mute in my laptop's sound settings.
Teams does NOT alert me that I'm muted if I use a different headset or no headset -- only using the Aftershokz headset. This is an Aftershokz problem, not a Teams problem, but Aftershokz tech support has been unhelpful. I'm hoping someone here has a workaround.
This problem cropped up last fall, went away, and now is back.

That works, but every time you have to talk on the call you un-mute , the setting gets undone and the beeping starts again.
I recently noticed that my Jabra also started having the same issue.
during the teams call. press volume + and volume - at the same time to unmute. need to do this for every call but can fix the "on-hold"/beep sound.

This tip seems to have fixed the issue for me:
"The fix is to go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > [Your device] + RMB > Properties > Services > UNTICK "Périphériques contrôlables à distance"
Sorry it is in french perhaps it is "Remotely Controllable Peripherals" or "Remotely Controllable Device"

I found this to be helpful if anyone is still having this issue. It seems the automatic gain control affects the auto-mute functionality if the device has it. A volume that is too low will trigger the auto-mute to occur.

I found one workaround which is similar to using the MS teams in Chrome,
Connect to the MS teams call from your phone, I did that to test and found that from my S20FE android, MS teams I can join the same call and the beeping is gone.
Hence this is a issue with MS teams app on Windows 10
