This is the second time I have experienced this same issue - it occurred last October and ended up being resolved, somehow. I do consider it a Teams problem with the Aftershokz Trekz Air headset I use, and the issue does not occur with Webex, Zoom, or GoToMeeting. When the mute is selected in MS Teams, it seems like it also turns on the mute on the Trekz Air headset. When I select mute in Teams, I hear Audrey (the Aftershokz voice) say “Mute On” and then the double beep indicator starts and will go on forever until I un-select mute in Teams, at which point Audrey says “Mute Off.” I’m presuming that, when I select mute, Teams performs a software mute AND, for some reason now also triggers a hardware mute on the Air headset. I never used to hear Audrey say mute on or off. I have tried to unmute the Air headset by holding the headset volume+ and volume- simultaneously, but those commands will not work while in a Teams meeting. I guess I don’t understand why Teams has to mute both Teams and the headset. The way the mute used to work in Teams (and with other meeting software) was that when mute was selected in Teams, the software would be muted, but the headset would not be muted. If you spoke, Teams would sense that you were speaking and put a reminder notification on your computer screen letting you know you were muted. With a double-mute of both Teams and the headset, I don’t get the screen reminder anymore, although right now I receive the incessant beeping mute-on indicator. As I mentioned above, the issue somehow got resolved last October and Teams did not trigger a hardware mute on my headset until again just recently. There is no reason for Teams to trigger the hardware mute . . . it didn't before and doesn't on my old Motorola S305 headset that I now have to use until the issue gets fixed again.
