Aftershokz headset alerting me that my Teams call is muted

I have the same question posed in this previous thread, but the solution hasn't worked for me. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/double-beep-when-muted-on-teams-aftershokz/d67018d1-7081-4acf-b688-bf947a524058?page=1

In short, no matter how I try to mute my mic, the headset tells me mute is on and double-beeps every few seconds. It happens if I mute the call, mute in call settings, or even if I simply mute in my laptop's sound settings.

Teams does NOT alert me that I'm muted if I use a different headset or no headset -- only using the Aftershokz headset. This is an Aftershokz problem, not a Teams problem, but Aftershokz tech support has been unhelpful. I'm hoping someone here has a workaround.

This problem cropped up last fall, went away, and now is back.

Found a solution that appears to be working for now.

Control Panel > Devices and Printers > [Your device] + RMB > Properties > Services > UNTICK Handsfree Telephony

From this thread on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftTeams/comments/us7oob/aeropex_aftershokz_and_teams/

I had no issues with my AfterShokz headphones for 2 years, then one day MS Teams updates and now they beep all the time. I tried everything that was suggested and it might work for a bit but would end up doing it again. I finally email Aeropex and they said they had a workaround. This is the reply they sent me.

"Beeping when on mute for the Microsoft Teams app is a known issue on our end which is why our design team was able to create this UC dongle. It is a USB dongle and it's a plugged and play thing that you may connect to your device that will eliminate the beeping issue."

All I did was email them, tell them the issue, and they are shipping me out this UC dongle free of charge. I haven't received it yet, but I thought everyone else might like to know they are actually trying to help their customers. So if you need to resolve this issue email them and hopefully it will resolve the issue.

I was using this solution for some time, is annoying to change between devices on Teams to switch between listening and talking, but it worked fine... until I've update to Windows 11.

Now the "Headset" device from Aeropex Aftershokz don't appear on the device list, only the "earphone" device for listening. Before, the Headset usually appeared on both lists (earphone and microphone) but now it's only on Microfone list, if I change to another device the listening phone sound turn off.

Microsoft is really messing up with this Aftershock devices on Teams!

I believe this is a Teams problem. I've been using my Aftershokz headset for a couple of years with no issues until recently. And this is so annoying that I now do Teams meetings using the web client instead (which does not exhibit this annoying behavior). Nor does the Android app. No idea about the iOS app.

    Hi, JS.365

Thanks for your updating. It seems the issue happened on the recent updates for Teams.

Therefore, we would like you to report this issue to MS's deveopers team in left-bottom Help button on your Teams, then report this issue and contact the developers team to see if they can give you further help.

Thanks for your time and your understanding would be highly appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    Zed
