JBL TUNE500BT headphones with microsoft teams

Hello Microsoft,

This is a growing issue, it looks like the most of the new headphones with mic do not work in teams and skype.

So, a I did a little research and conclusion is that it looks like that neither skype or teams do not support new BT protocols for beater sound over BT. they only support old headset protocols not hands-free protocols ( I hope I got it right there in terminology).

So since I do not see a single reply by @Microsoft regarding this subject. can you at least pass this to yours developers maybe they will know how to fix it.

I have the same issue - only with MsTeams.

I was digging around the BT versions in order to eliminate this rootcause and:

• my laptop (bough May 2019) got BT5.0 (introduced 2016)
• my JBL700 (bought Dec 2020) got BT4.2 (introduced 2014)

The above would suggest that JBL is not matching latest standards but...

• my JBL700 works with 3 different Samsung Phones, iPhone, IPad and.... the same laptop.
• my JBL700 works with all possible apps tested on above devices but Ms Teams.

Despite the BT version being outdated in JBLs I would still suggest Microsoft to dig in to the root cause of this issue.

BTW: Is there any Problem record open your developers are looking in to? Is there any action taken from your end?

Hi,

I just wanted to share that i have found a run-around on how to make my TUNE 500BT work on MS Teams.

i bought a USB BT Transmitter with 3.5mm jack.

Plug the USB BT Transmitter on any USB port of your PC/LAPTOP/Power Bank for power.

Plug the 3.5mm headset output jack of the laptop to the USB BT input 3.5mm jack.  Pair the BT Transmitter to your TUNE500.  Once paired, you will now be able to use it for MS Teams! :)

By doing so, you will be able to hear audio coming-in the Headset (clearly without the robotic voice), downside is you will still be using the built-in Microphone of your laptop for outgoing voice.  But hey, i find this better than not being able to use my TUNE500 BT at all with MS Teams! :)

I just bought JBL TUNE500BT headphones and works perfectly but on microsoft teams the sound is robotic. I tried many ways in settings but sound still not good. Is there any special driver or settings?

Once you are logged in to teams and the Bluetooth headset is connected, then test the call. It will be required to change the device settings  (Settings>Devices> Select the option in speaker as Stereo and the Audio devices will change to custom . Reselect the option as Hands-free in audio devices) The device will start working. That's what I have to do as in my company now the skype will be out of use and MS teams is introduced. Somehow this works for me and my son's classes also. Make sure doing this workaround there are no wired headphones connected to the laptop. SKype business was not at all supporting this headset and it was kept in my desk box for a long since I purchased after lock down started in India .

This is really annoying!! I've got a brand new pair of  JBL Tune500BT as a Christmas gift and they work really great with all devices and apps, except MS Teams!!!

If I select the Stereo for output, I just hear nothing (except some low but noticeable humming) if I select the hands-free as output, I just hear robotic.

Microsoft, when will you fix this??? WHEN?????????????????????

Hello HBloise, issue is not limited with JBL branded earphones. All earphones without dongle are not working :(

@Microsoft, we need your immediate help, anybody hear?
