JBL TUNE500BT headphones with microsoft teams

Does JBL TUNE500BT headphones has its own bluetooth dongle?

Microsoft have a certification program where audio devices are certified for Teams. They check quality of microphones and bluetooth connection before a device can be certified. One requirement is to use a bluetooth dongle to connect the audio device since the built-in bluetooth in the computer can be of low quality.

Non-supported Bluetooth devices without dongles can give audio quality issues using it with Microsoft Teams, that's why Microsoft selected some products from vendors that are certified for Teams.

I have the same issue, our school district has designated Microsoft teams as the meeting place for kids to attend school for now, I reviewed the list of headsets and JBL is not listed there.

To answer your question, no, JBL does not require a dongle neither Bose Soundsport ( not listed on the link) but works fine with Teams as I've used it multiple times with the app and desktop version.

The JBL TUNE500BT connects seamlessly to to all devices (cell phones, windows 10 pc's and apple computers) even with the recorder on Windows 10 there are no issues, the headset is small enough for smaller kids and has great sound quality and mic, so the missing dongle is not a real issue, the problem is Microsoft Teams.

Considering the current environment in which kids all ages will have to log in to attend school via Teams there should be a software patch on the Microsoft Teams end to resolve this issue, it's either that or school districts having to figure out a different platform (Zoom worked fine trough the end of the school year) because it will be costly to them to also provide headphones that work (based on the ones listed on that link), smaller children will need affordable headsets that will fit their heads and do the job with the tasks they are required to do, anything wired is out of the question for them.

Please let me know who I can reach out to @ Microsoft so we can escalate the issue, I believe there are viable solutions as this seems a doable fix that will benefit all involved.

Dear Microsoft Team, 

Any fix for the JBL Tune 500BT connectivity issue? This is very annoying not able to connect your favourite pair of Bluetooth headphones with Teams meeting.

I have resolved that by switch off the Handsfree Telephony option from control pannel / select the JBL device / properties / service.

If you disable handsfree than you won't be able to use your built-in microphone..... The problem seems to be the Bluetooth driver and how Windows handles that rather than the device itself and Teams. It works like a charm on my iPhone (even with Teams app).
