Low resolution of logitech meetup camera in Microsoft Teams

Hi everyone.

I have an issue with our Logitech Meetup conference camera. If i look at the image via the Windows 10 camera app, the image quality is very good (1080p) .

But when working in Microsoft Teams, or Skype for consumer, the image is blurry, with jagged edges that indicate that the resolution is very low. If, for comparison i try to reproduce the same image quality in the Windows 10 camera app (there i can choose the resolution manually, i have to reduce the quality to 360p).

Our bandwidth is 300mbps down/30mpbps up so that should not be the problem.

I first thought that it had to do with the performance of our conference PC.

But the strange thing is that in Google Hangout or Zoom, i don't have this problem, there the image quality is just fine/as expected.

Also when i connect my Surface Book to the Logitech Meetup, i have the same bad quality in Teams, but when i switch to the internal camera of the Surface Book, image quality is perfect...

In skype for consumer I have the same issue as in Teams, so i think that it has to do with the way Microsoft addresses the camera.

Firmware of the Meetup is on the latest version (i installed it to improve the automatic centering on the audience aka RightSight) but I am not sure if i have used the Meetup camera in Teams with the old firmware) , all latest windows and teams updates are installed.

Any clues ? Thanks for your insights.

I have exactly the same problem with my Logitech StreamCam, purchased specifically for Skype and Teams meetings. I get:

    Logitech capture: 1080p @ 60fps

    Zoom pro: 1080p

    Zoom standard: 720p

Google meet (through Firefox) : 720p

    Skype online (through Edge): 720p

Skype and Teams in Win10: a BIG welcome back to 2002 video quality and resolutions...

When I plug in a cheap 1080p Amcrest webcam, I get better resolution in Skype and Teams software (although image colours, warmth, etc. are not as good as the Logitech).

Something is going on between MS and Logitech, they must be aware of this issue, yet are taking way too long to fix the problem.

Did you ever resolve this?  Like yourself in the Windows 10 Camera app, the camera is great all high resolution, we have usb3 so can do 4K or 1080p60 but then in any online meetings the camera is utter trash and the image is super low resolution, and highly compressed.  Its nothing to do with bandwidth or anything as in the exact same room is a Logitech C920 camera that cost about 70 quid which shows a nice crisp clear 1080p image vs this Logitech meetup which was close to £1000 and renders at like 640x480 or below.

Noticed this in Both Zoom and Teams

No. Not resolved. Logitech even suggests opening a ticket with microsoft and it really does look like a problem with the Teams app codec because all other applications get the expected or better video quality than the Teams app:

Thanks for all of the documentation of the image quality issue.  Do you get the same results of a non-blurry image in the Windows Camera application?

The meetup camera supplies the same video stream to all apps.  The applications then process it and handle the video as they choose.

I would file a support request with Microsoft. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/contact-support-for-business-products?view=o365-worldwide&tabs=online

What version of Desktop Teams and Windows 10 build are you currently using?

    Hi ,

Would using a USB 3 and above will help this issue ?

    I am experiencing same issues.

Hi, Ken. Shouldn't Logitech open a case to Microsoft and address this issue?  It seems like it's an ongoing problem to match Meetup with MS Teams.  Thats a Logitech product problem and it makes customers think twice about buying this product, if they are aware of this problem.  I'm a reseller and feel I might have sold a product that is not a good fit to MS Teams.  It gives me a broblem regarding support.  I cannot see in this chat, during a long time, any answers to the problem.  Logitech should solve it in collaboration with Microsoft asap.
