Low resolution of logitech meetup camera in Microsoft Teams

Hi everyone.

I have an issue with our Logitech Meetup conference camera. If i look at the image via the Windows 10 camera app, the image quality is very good (1080p) .

But when working in Microsoft Teams, or Skype for consumer, the image is blurry, with jagged edges that indicate that the resolution is very low. If, for comparison i try to reproduce the same image quality in the Windows 10 camera app (there i can choose the resolution manually, i have to reduce the quality to 360p).

Our bandwidth is 300mbps down/30mpbps up so that should not be the problem.

I first thought that it had to do with the performance of our conference PC.

But the strange thing is that in Google Hangout or Zoom, i don't have this problem, there the image quality is just fine/as expected.

Also when i connect my Surface Book to the Logitech Meetup, i have the same bad quality in Teams, but when i switch to the internal camera of the Surface Book, image quality is perfect...

In skype for consumer I have the same issue as in Teams, so i think that it has to do with the way Microsoft addresses the camera.

Firmware of the Meetup is on the latest version (i installed it to improve the automatic centering on the audience aka RightSight) but I am not sure if i have used the Meetup camera in Teams with the old firmware) , all latest windows and teams updates are installed.

Any clues ? Thanks for your insights.

    Thanks Piet,

    I opened a case with Logitech a month ago and will continue to track it. Zoom calls also suffer form the same quality issue and I have noticed they have improved since changing the cable. We currently have 4 of these cameras all different production dates.

    I have now tested the USB C cable theory on all cameras on 4 different PC's and can repeat the improved resolution in Zoom, I have not tried teams yet as we don't have it deployed.

    I would still recommend replacing the cable if you are having this issue.

    Well i have the 4k compatible usb cable but in teams it makes no difference....

    Hi all, today i've received the following answer by Logitech support regarding low video quality with meetup camera and Teams App:

    "We have already informed Microsoft about this and we have been assured that a solution will be found immediately. Several camera models are also affected by third parties."

    We are experiencing all these exact same issues.

    To me its the amount of zoom the camera performs.

    You take a 1080P image and crop in 10x you get crappy low res

    It is not optically zooming, its digital zoom. At least our old BCC950 really zoomed in.

    By stepping upto 4K you get 4 times the res in theory. About to try this with a C-C cable.

    For a Professional Camera, and one certified for Teams and Teams rooms it is appalling that this product was allowed to be released and marketed this way and is flat out false advertising IMO. Microsoft should be removing the Teams validation for sure.

    I am amazed this pro level 4 k camera has the same amount of controls as a $65 web camera. 

    The only controls i have are brightness/contrast/refresh/white balance

    Where is the software control settings for

    • setting maximum zoom amount
    • disabling zoom
    • rightsight controls to enable disable people detection
    • enable disable brightness people control
    • Audio features
    • Image Flip

    Logitech have made a smart camera and given it the dumbest control interface/feature access.

    Not everything in this world needs to be dumbed down to smart phone level.

    Very disappointing this product was ever certified as a Teams camera, as we never would of purchased it for our Teams rooms.

    I hope they fix these issues very soon.

    Unfortunately not. We use the webbrowser for now as this works better.

    I suggest that everybody experiencing this problem opens a case @logitech...

    I observe the same problem. The picture in Teams Web is ALWAYS better than in Teams Client. For me this has nothing to do with Logitech, because the MS Surface cams shows the same behaviour.
