Low resolution of logitech meetup camera in Microsoft Teams

Hi everyone.

I have an issue with our Logitech Meetup conference camera. If i look at the image via the Windows 10 camera app, the image quality is very good (1080p) .

But when working in Microsoft Teams, or Skype for consumer, the image is blurry, with jagged edges that indicate that the resolution is very low. If, for comparison i try to reproduce the same image quality in the Windows 10 camera app (there i can choose the resolution manually, i have to reduce the quality to 360p).

Our bandwidth is 300mbps down/30mpbps up so that should not be the problem.

I first thought that it had to do with the performance of our conference PC.

But the strange thing is that in Google Hangout or Zoom, i don't have this problem, there the image quality is just fine/as expected.

Also when i connect my Surface Book to the Logitech Meetup, i have the same bad quality in Teams, but when i switch to the internal camera of the Surface Book, image quality is perfect...

In skype for consumer I have the same issue as in Teams, so i think that it has to do with the way Microsoft addresses the camera.

Firmware of the Meetup is on the latest version (i installed it to improve the automatic centering on the audience aka RightSight) but I am not sure if i have used the Meetup camera in Teams with the old firmware) , all latest windows and teams updates are installed.

Any clues ? Thanks for your insights.

    I received a replacement camera from Logitech and have not updated the firmware, I plugged it in and it has not made  difference to the quality in a Zoom call using the desktop application.

    using an onboard camera we are not having any issues. its incredibly disappointing to see this problem is affecting os many users and Logitech have not release drivers for their products to prevent this from happening.

    I will test the web based driver and see if it is an improvement.

    SO after a LOT of fiddling around I have some information that MAY help others having this issue.

    When opening the default camera app in Windows 10, the best I was able to achieve was 1080p from the drop down box meaning the camera app was not able to realize the full 4k resolution.

    I tested different firm ware versions on both cameras, different PC's and finally swapped out the supplied USB cable for a USC C to USB C cable, rebooted and the option was there to select 4K resolution.

    as soon as I noticed this the video quality appears to be a lot better in the windows camera app. I then tried zoom calls and had to enable the HD option in Zoom and presto the resolution is better, I am not going to say it is fixed as the quality is still poorer than a cheap 4k camera, especially on full zoom where it gets very grainy under anything other than full daylight.

    I have since tried a USB C to USB C on both firmware versions on different cameras and they now both display in 4K.

    I do hope this helps others and I amazed Logitech has shipped thousands of cameras with a cable that is not capable of displaying 4K.

    This is true, but logitech specifications that the meetup camera needs a special usb c to usb c cable to show its full 4K resolution.

    But that is not the problem : As far as i know there are not public video conference services that offer resolutions above full hd / 1080p.

    But the problem in this thread is that the resolution of the meetup camera when used in the microsoft teams desktop app is more like 340x240 pixels than full hd.

    Please do as i have done : open a case @ logitech aside of mentioning the problem here.
