Low resolution of logitech meetup camera in Microsoft Teams

Hi everyone.

I have an issue with our Logitech Meetup conference camera. If i look at the image via the Windows 10 camera app, the image quality is very good (1080p) .

But when working in Microsoft Teams, or Skype for consumer, the image is blurry, with jagged edges that indicate that the resolution is very low. If, for comparison i try to reproduce the same image quality in the Windows 10 camera app (there i can choose the resolution manually, i have to reduce the quality to 360p).

Our bandwidth is 300mbps down/30mpbps up so that should not be the problem.

I first thought that it had to do with the performance of our conference PC.

But the strange thing is that in Google Hangout or Zoom, i don't have this problem, there the image quality is just fine/as expected.

Also when i connect my Surface Book to the Logitech Meetup, i have the same bad quality in Teams, but when i switch to the internal camera of the Surface Book, image quality is perfect...

In skype for consumer I have the same issue as in Teams, so i think that it has to do with the way Microsoft addresses the camera.

Firmware of the Meetup is on the latest version (i installed it to improve the automatic centering on the audience aka RightSight) but I am not sure if i have used the Meetup camera in Teams with the old firmware) , all latest windows and teams updates are installed.

Any clues ? Thanks for your insights.

    I have exactly the same problem with my Logitech StreamCam, purchased specifically for Skype and Teams meetings. I get:

    Logitech capture: 1080p @ 60fps

    Zoom pro: 1080p

    Zoom standard: 720p

    Google meet (through Firefox) : 720p

    Skype online (through Edge): 720p

    Skype and Teams in Win10: a BIG welcome back to 2002 video quality and resolutions...

    When I plug in a cheap 1080p Amcrest webcam, I get better resolution in Skype and Teams software (although image colours, warmth, etc. are not as good as the Logitech).

    Something is going on between MS and Logitech, they must be aware of this issue, yet are taking way too long to fix the problem.

    Hi everyone, 

    just reiceived an update from Logitech Support yesterday. The say this issue should be resolved via Windows Update or a new Teams version soon.

    Everyone, this issue affects multiple cameras, multiple brands. I'm getting it on a cheap wide-screen camera I just set up. Teams, and a few other apps in windows decide not to default to the highest resolution available from the camera. Some apps then provide you with the option to choose the camera resolution, but Teams and Zoom in particular have no controls whatsoever, so you're just stuck with whatever they've chosen.

    This is NOT an issue with the cameras. Logitech are right to say it's not their issue.

    But, I have some solutions for you! Basically, you can get around all of this by using virtual webcam software. There's 2 I can recommend: 

    OBS - This is used by lots of people to set up streams, and broadcast all sorts of things, to all sorts of services - but it has a feature called Virtual Webcam, which essentially means that the OBS software appears in your apps (Teams, Zoom, etc) as a webcam, and then from within OBS you choose your webcam as the video source to stream - BOOM, the resolution issue is solved!

    Snapcam - this is a bit of software from Snapchat. Yes I know, not exactly a professional sounding solution, but trust me here, you can use it to simply act in the same was as OBS, as a virtual webcam - it'll show up in your app as a new webcam, and in Snapcam you then choose which webcam you want it to use. Again, BOOM the resolution issue is solved! (Plus you can turn yourself into a pickle or potato with snapcam!)

    I am using Logitech Meetup with Teams through ClickShare CX-30 and picture is good. It is pricey solution but it work. Because Barco (CX-30 only) and Logitech devices (Meetup and Rallycam only) cooperate, it is very good solution. You no more need connect camera separately, You only connect ClickShare button and camera is connected through that too.

    The problem is that the resolution is far from 720p in Teams.

    I would be very happy with that. I estimate it more like 360x240 pixels.
