Export messages from Teams Chat?

This is not exactly a new phenomenon for Microsoft. If you want usable data out of the Mac version of One Note, you have to click, select all, select all (again) and then copy and switch to a real document and paste. Aside from that, OneNote can give you a PDF as an export of your page. Great if you want to share a finished document, but not user friendly and hostile to data portability.  Teams is worse in this respect in that the select all does not work at scale even within a chat. (I stand corrected on my previous advice here. It works for a bit, but not much chat history). 

For my personal computing, I insist upon using tools that give me complete exportability and portability of my content (and in standards-based formats).  Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to mandate these kinds of common sense requirements in my workplace, however I do try to encourage it. 

Bottom line - users should demand that our data be easily and usefully exportable from any tool that we use.  Chat is mostly text and some images/links, etc. No reason why a RTF, HTML, or XML file (with images in a directory) can't be produced on command. Or even a Word docx or an email.

This is useful but for an end user solution it's a non-starter. You shouldn't have to get an admin involved to extract a chat session out of Teams. Still thank you for the link.

There is no solution to this. Everything posted so far does not work.

The best you can do is copy-and-paste, one page at time, where Teams decides what constitutes a "page".

Hope you don't need to go too far back.

As per my knowledge, it's not feasible to export the conversations in Teams directly. As a workaround we can copy the entire conversations, then paste them to Word, OneNote, or other apps. Also for the single chat, we can share it to Outlook via click Share to Outlook option after you click more options of that specific chat. Or other workaround is that capture the screenshots of those conversations, then save it as .PNG, .JPG or other type file.

Actually, for your first and second query, the admin have the permission to run the content search from admin center, there admin may be abled to export the needed information. So if you are not the global admin in your organization, please do involve your admin here to go ahead. For the admin reference: Conduct an eDiscovery investigation of content in Microsoft Teams.

I would like to know how to copy the entire conversation in a lengthy chat.  I have not found a simple solution where we had several chats during a 4 hour virtual conference.
