team mysterious ringing

the last week or so I get a random (i don't see a reason/activity for it when it happens) ringing in my headset...like a phone call ringtone, but there is no activity  on Teams.  No one is calling me or messaging me, there is not an upcoming meeting scheduled.

My IT support team thought it was something wrong/setting on my Jabra Evolve headset,   but I tried turning off a ringtone setting in the headset's settings, but yet, I still get this same mystery ringing still

any ideas what could be causing this ?

I have a similar issue with ringing after I hang up a call, the ringing rings for a second and then stops, why? If I call someone and then cancel the call or hang up without them answering the ringing continues. I have not tried killing the app in system tray but even worse I rebooted and it stopped.

I'm Running Teams Version 1.5.00.17656 and MS Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 installed 1/20/2022 OS Build 19042.1766 with Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0

I just received my Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset and connected to work Surface Pro 7+. I tried MS Teams test call, and once i disconnected the call, Teams Ringtone was ringing in the background and did not stop. I read through all the replies here and tried few different things, but non worked. I am extremely frustrated as Microsoft haven't fixed this issue for a long time. No issues with USB headsets. Now i realise i made a mistake by ordering this so called Microsoft Modern!! Wireless Headset. :(

Microsoft is almost monopol in industry and don't give a **** about people. 2 years of super annoying distracting bug reported by many users and not give a damn :D 2 freaky years. I am going to have work interview and - even TEST call does not work due to stupid ringing tone playing somewhere in background, even after all calls and test call has ended

June 2022 and I'm still having this issue (since 2020!).

3 different Windows laptops (1 MS Surface and 2 Dell) from 3 different jobs and all of them have the same issues.

I do use bluetooth headphones but I've observed that the issue still happens even when I've finished work and disconnected the headphones. I would be away from the computer and the call ringtone would just randomly go off from the laptop speaker.

This is REALLY annoying, I can't turn off the ringtone permanently as I still need to know when my colleague is actually calling me during work hours.

And seems like the solutions suggested here are just to stop the ringing once it goes off, not so much to stop the random ringing from happening in the first place.

I've used Zoom for meetings & calls as well, and it works perfectly fine, no random ringing here and there like Teams.

C'mon Microsoft, billions of dollars and you can't fix an issue like this? 😠

@RobS.1 you are absolutely right Teams has a "Feature" to react on play and pause commands.

The play command can be triggered in several ways most commonly by bluetooth headsets or speakers. Some headsets trigger the play/pause command when disconnecting --> Teams starts ringing

on Win11 @gadgetgeek2000 showed a solution to stop it.

on Win10 you can bring up the volume/media control by changing the volume and press the pause button for Teams.

In my opinion it is a Teams bug, since it is not a multimedia app that should have a play/pause behaviour
