After updating to windows 11, the option to customize "Choose a file to show on this folder icon" does not change the folder's display image even after applying, I have tried the solutions displayed here " https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/all/folder-icon-thumbnails-broken-windows-11-pro/0e60c9ee-e5f0-4e6d-80c9-42cf2f89752e " but it did not solve the issue, I also do not have the option to revert to windows 10 where this problem never occurred

    Hello LesFerch,

Thank you for your understanding and acknowledgement.

Yes, I was was writing it didn't work, because of that ugly result, which does not suit. And, no I don't want to program my OS. That is Microsoft's gig' not mine. They should fix, "Choose a file to show ON (not IN!) this folder icon."

Problem (as you can discern) is the pic' is IN the icon and not ON IT, as you can see on page 3 (from azhotaz) of this thread. THAT is the way it should work (Yes! You could fit 4 picture on a folder!).

    Hello ##null##

Unfortunately, your solution doesn't work as you've described, or I should say, the result is the same. Using the picture file below, I got the result also shown below. Microsoft should fix it as it worked in '10, '7 and 'XP (shown on page 3 (from azhotaz)!).

    Thanks.

The Folder pictures option and the option of placing a folder.jpg file in a folder does work with current Windows 11 builds, BUT it only displays a half-picture, which looks pretty ugly. Microsoft really should provide an option for the picture to cover the entire folder icon. For now, the only way to get that effect is to to a mod, as per this tutorial:

    https://www.neowin.net/guides/how-to-customize-folder-thumbnails-in-windows-11-22h2/

The link to the icons in that tutorial is broken. I found them here:

See the response of a Page from Windows XP, on Page 3 (from azhotaz). THAT is how it was done! Not no mo'!

Thank you for your reply. I cleared the Thumbnail Cache, and clicked "Restore Default" in the folder properties (apply to subfolders) with a file called Folder.jpg in every folder (I've been building these folders for many years.), and it didn't work. The U.I. Still appears to be broken.

.... err,,, didn't use cleanmgr.exe. Is that particular program mandatory to see the folder art?

Looking forward to the results of your research.
